It's been a bummer week. Is it justified? Welcome to another Fletcher Friday report. Today is Friday, October 16th, 2026. Every Friday we look at Fletcher's performance compared to the SP 500 index. Yes, volatility has made for a bummer week. Let's take a look and talk about it. Last week I got a little long-winded about Fletcher's Sharp ratio and how volatile it can be. The ups, the downs. Is it worth the ride? Are the returns worth all the drama? This week we got to experience it firsthand, volatility that is. There's been a number of things contributing to the general market's volatility. Iran, inflation, interest rates. The first part of the week felt like an overreaction to me. I was watching the numbers, seeing things relax. By the time we got to Friday, I was figuring we'd have a nice bounce back into the positive. But no, I'm still feeling bullish, but we do have some things to get past. Like I said, Iran, inflation, interest rates. I do believe we'll see some positive movement between now and the end of the year. For now, let's just look at some numbers. Like I said, it's been a bummer week, particularly for Fletcher. It gave up 12% this week, and the SP only gave up 2%. Since the first of the month, Fletcher is down 1%, and the SP is basically flat. Year to date, Fletcher is down quite a bit compared to last week. We're at 194% for the week. The SP is at roughly 12%. When you look at the last three months for Fletcher, it's at about 26%, and the SP is at about 2%. If you go back six months, for Fletcher, we're about 4%, and the SP is at about 9%. As we approach the end of the year, there's a lot of talk about what happens in the market during an election cycle. Here we are well into the fourth quarter. And from a quick inquiry I made with Google, we're set to have a strong fourth quarter, and that's based on historical averages. I didn't see anything compelling one way or the other regarding who wins the House or the Senate. I will stick with my earlier statement about being optimistic about what lays ahead. Let's watch it unfold together each week. That'll do it for now. Thank you for listening. Don't forget to go vote, and let's look at more numbers next week.
